Blood donors will have several chances to donate at upcoming American Red Cross blood drives in Southeast Missouri. Five blood drives are scheduled from April 1-5.
All blood types are needed, but Type O is especially needed. Type O is the most common blood type used in hospital surgeries. About 46 percent of the population carries Type O blood.
Two blood drives are sponsored by school clubs and are scheduled for April 1 at Delta and Scott City High Schools.
The Delta blood drive is sponsored by the Delta FFA chapter and will be held in the school band room from 1 to 5:30 p.m. The Scott City drive is sponsored by the National Honor Society and will be held in the school cafeteria from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.
St. Francis Medical Center will sponsor a blood drive April 3 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in conference rooms A and B. Another blood drive is also scheduled for April 3 in the Bell City High School cafeteria from 2 to 6 p.m.
The last blood drive of the week will be held at Motorcycle Stuff, 4298 Nash Road, April 5 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
