Team entries are being accepted for the 1997 Black River Festival Bar-B-Que Contest. The event is planned in conjunction with the 1997 Black River Festival July 4 and 5 at Wiseman Park in downtown Poplar Bluff.
There will be three categories for competition: ribs, shoulders-Boston butts, and tenderloins. The teams will be set up in Wiseman Park by Friday night, July 4, when the public is invited to the park to browse and possibly sample barbeque. Blind judging will take place Saturday, July 5, with prize money and trophies awarded in each category.
The competition is open to all barbeque teams. Entry fees are $35 per four-to-five-member teams, per category. Deadline for submitting entry forms is July 2.
The Black River Festival Bar-B-Que Contest is sponsored by Luecke Distributing of Poplar Bluff.
