Walt Lilley, a professor in Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Biology, will receive the 2013 PRIDE Award and serve as grand marshal during commencement, set for 2 p.m. Saturday.
Lilly also will present the address at the Honors Convocation at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Both ceremonies are in the Show Me Center.
PRIDE stands for Provost's Research, Instruction and Development for Excellence. The award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence as a teacher, an extraordinary level of scholarship and service and whose overall accomplishments are especially noteworthy, a university news release said.
Lilly was selected for the award by the Council of Deans after nominations were solicited from each of the university's colleges and schools. This is the 18th year Southeast has presented the award.
