Famed comedian Bill Cosby is scheduled to perform at the Show Me Center in April.

Southeast Missouri State University officials wouldn't confirm it Monday, but two sources with ties to the school said Cosby would perform.

The school has scheduled a news conference at the Show Me Center for 2:30 p.m. today. A formal announcement of Cosby's appearance is expected to be made then.

Jim Biundo, assistant to the president for university relations at Southeast, will make the announcement.

Cosby's appearance will cap a week of activities as part of the inauguration of Dr. Dale Nitzschke as Southeast's 16th president. Inauguration week is April 4-12.

Cosby is scheduled to perform at the Show Me Center on the concluding weekend of inauguration activities, sources said.

The 59-year-old Cosby is one of the world's richest entertainers.

His only son, Ennis Cosby, 27, was shot to death Jan. 16 while changing a flat tire along a Los Angeles freeway. Since then Cosby and his family have grieved openly about the death of their son.

Bill Cosby's standup comedy centers around fatherhood, as did his best-selling book and a popular TV series of the 1980s.

Today, he is back on television as the star of a new sitcom called "Cosby."
