Bieg selected to academic team

Southeast Missouri State University senior offensive lineman Dan Bieg has been named as one of 36 members of the seventh annual Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star team.

The winners were chosen from 86 nominees and were announced this week at the Division I-AA football championship in Chattanooga, Tenn.

"The young men who earned this award are outstanding representatives of the caliber of students and the caliber of athletes found in Division I-AA football," said Steve McCarty, chair of the Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star selection committee.

Bieg has a 3.407 cumulative grade point average while majoring in sports management. He was a first-team all-OVC selection at offensive guard this year and was also an Academic All-District 7 selection.
