A Cape Girardeau man was robbed while riding his bicycle early Monday morning, police said.
About 4:50 a.m., a 32-year-old man told police he was riding his bicycle south on Sprigg Street near Good Hope Street. As he was riding slowly, a man came upon him from the right, grabbing the bicycle. The two got into a tugging match.
The man struck the rider in the right eye with his fist. The rider struck back, hitting him in the forehead with his hand.
The man then pushed the bicycle over, knocking the rider to the ground. He placed his knee on the victim and removed a black wallet from his back pocket, which contained an amount of cash.
The robber then fled west on foot, running into an alley on the west side of Don's Store 24, at Sprigg and Morgan Oak streets.
