Bicycle enthusiasts are invited to participate in the second annual Riverfest Midnight Ramble, set for June 10 just after midnight. The theme for this year's ramble is "Family Fun Without the Sun."
The ramble, coordinated through the Riverfest Association and the Velo Girardeau Bicycle Club, attracted 200 riders last year. Organizers hope to attract as many as 400 riders this year.
Ramble check-in time is 11 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. in front of the Show Me Center.
Two routes have been planned. Riders may choose from a 19-mile route or a 6-mile trip. The ramble is open to all ages, but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Prior to the ride, Cape Bicycle Shop will offer free bicycle safety checks. Post-ride breakfast refreshments will be provided by Schnucks. For those who must travel long distances, a special overnight package is offered by Drury Lodge.
Midnight Ramble applications are available now at Cape Bicycle, 1802 Broadway. For information or to request an application by mail, contact Judy Pulley at 2431 Glenn Ridge in Cape Girardeau, 334-5819, or the Riverfest office, 335-1388.
Scheduled for June 10-11 in downtown Cape Girardeau, Riverfest features entertainment and activities for the family. Corporate sponsors are Capital Bank, KBSI Fox 23, St. Francis Medical Center and Southwestern Bell Telephone.
