The Cape Girardeau Bicentennial Commission recently announced its policy concerning funds disbursement and logo use.
Walter Wildman, chairperson of the finance committee, and Shirley Talley, vice chairperson, explained the policy.
"The policy is very simple and is designed to provide accountability for funds being provided by the city of Cape Girardeau as well as funds that may be raised on behalf of the bicentennial celebration," said Wildman.
The policy is as follows:
1. Any project and/or activity being conducted as a bicentennial event requires approval of the commission. If this event requires funds or produces funds, it would further need to be approved by the finance committee. This would also be in force for any activity presently being conducted.
2. Any use of the registered trademark designed by the bicentennial commission requires the same approval. This would also require finance committee approval if the logo would be used for fundraising.
A number of bicentennial activities are being planned. Jan. 4, 1993 marks the 200th anniversary of the establishment of a trading post in this area by Louis Lorimier.
Members of the commission include: Melvin Gateley, chairperson; Martha Bender, vice chairperson; Frances Miner, secretary; Gary Bunting; Mark Farmer; Julia Kridelbaugh; Helen Miner; Patty Mulkey; and Sharon Sanders.
Persons wishing more information can contact Gateley at 334-1155.
