BENTON -- The 26th annual Benton Neighbor Day Celebration will begin at 5 p.m. Friday with the opening of the midway and will continue with skydiving, live entertainment, an antique car show and more through Saturday night.
Sky divers will make their appearance at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
On Friday the Little Mr. and Miss Neighbor Day contest will take place at 7 p.m. followed by a queen contest. Southland Band will perform and a dance will be held in the Community Building featuring the Eddie Martin Sound System.
On Saturday activities begin at 10 a.m. with the opening of the midway. A parade will begin at 10:30 followed by the antique car show.
Afternoon activities for children include foot, sack, wheelbarrow, piggyback, three-legged and bicycle races. Adults can join in tug-of-war, egg-throwing and nail-driving competition.
Kids should bring old clothes for a greased-pole contest at 6 p.m. There will be a greased-pig chase at 10 p.m. Saturday.
A talent show will take place at 7 p.m., and Southland will perform. A dance will be held in the Community Building featuring Charlie's Music Revue Sound System.
Exhibits will be in the old school building on Friday and Saturday. The 4-H will display crafts in the school building and will present entertainment at 11:30 a.m. on the outdoor stage.
