BENTON, Mo. -- A Benton man faces first-degree assault and armed criminal action charges for allegedly stabbing another man during a fight over a girl early Tuesday morning.

Allen G. Wilson, 18, was arrested in connection with an altercation that occurred around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday near 1187 Route E, according to the probable-cause statement.

When officers arrived in response to a reported stabbing at the residence, they found three people in the road.

Steve R. Hanks, 17, the stabbing victim, had a large cut on the back of his head, the statement said.

Wilson appeared to be intoxicated and told officers he'd stabbed Hanks after a fight broke out between the two of them inside the residence.

A third person told officers that the two got in a physical altercation over a girl, and during the fight Wilson attempted stabbing Hanks several times, but the witness said he was able to get the knife away from him temporarily.

At some point, Wilson regained control of the weapon and followed Hanks outside of the residence, where he chased him to the road and allegedly cut the back of his head.

Hanks was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center. His injury required 10 staples in the back of the head.

Wilson suffered a cut to his right hand and a laceration above his right eye, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff's Department.

All three subjects were underage and appeared intoxicated, the news release said.

A breathalyzer test revealed that Wilson had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent and the witness had a BAC level of 0.035 percent, according to the sworn statement. Hanks' BAC was not available.

"We are continuing the investigation to determine where these underage people got the alcohol, and there may be additional charges before we are finished," Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said.
