Michelle Bennett, daughter of Mike and Gwen Bennett, and Tim Mayfield, son of Barbara Mayfield and Joe Mayfield, both graduates of Cape Central High School, have each won a $1,000 All-College Scholarship from the Aid Association for Lutherans. Bennett and Mayfield are two of 1,000 graduating high school seniors to be honored as recipients of this scholarship.

The recipients were chosen from more than 6,200 applicants based on their academic record, leadership qualities, church and community involvement, extracurricular activities and the student's own statements.

Bennett was also designated as a 1996 Achievement Baylor Scholar. She will be provided with up to $4,000 in scholarships for undergraduate studies at Baylor University. Mayfield has been awarded the Northeast Missouri State University's President's Honorary Scholarship, the Northeast Missouri State University's Combined Ability Scholarship, Booster Club Scholarship, and Bright Flight.
