More than 40 local celebrities took part in the Hoop-It-Up for St. Jude Kids benefit event Friday at the A.C. Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau.
The event raised $1,000, all of which will go toward St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Mayor Jay Knudtson, one of the celebrity players, sustained a knee injury in the first quarter and was carried out on a stretcher. His condition was unknown late Friday.
The event also featured a performance by an Elvis impersonator and amateur magician.
Several local businesses took part in sponsoring the event and selling goods and services portions of which went toward the fund raiser.
