BEAUTY SALON OPENS DOWNTOWN

Jay's Beauty Salon has opened in downtown Cape Girardeau.

"We opened Friday," said Jay Whitfield, owner of the shop at 42 N. Main. "We're starting with a one-operator shop, but hope to expand in the future."

The salon opens each morning at 8.

Whitfield, a Jackson native, is a graduate of Stage One, The Hair School, at Cape Girardeau, and has about nine years experience.

He worked at Hair Performers, and became salon coordinator for that company.

"We're looking forward to our downtown location," said Whitfield, who now lives in Cape Girardeau. "We looked at several locations before deciding on Main St.
