ST. LOUIS Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri has announced its premium income increased 21 percent in 1990, reaching $650.9 million. Claims expenses rose 17.6 percent to $556 million. The company added another $21.6 million in its reserves to give a total of $118 million, equivalent to two months of administrative and benefit expenses.
President and CEO Roy Heimburger made the announcement at the company's annual meeting Thursday.
The company is developing an insurance program targeted to sell for about 30 percent less than its standard programs.
