Band festival, parade set for today in Jackson

High school bands will be marching through downtown Jackson today. Bands from 15 area high schools were invited to the 65th annual Jackson Marching Band Festival. The noncompetitive marching event started in 1945 and has been held on the first Tuesday in October for more than 60 years. The festival will start with a parade through downtown Jackson at 4 p.m. There will be a show in the Jackson High School stadium at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the show costs $2 for adults and $1 for students.
