BAMM BEANOS DONATED TO GROUP

Junior members of the River City C.B. Club/Class of 2000 in Scott County have received a donation of the popular Bamm Beano beanie bears.

Officially licensed by Major League Baseball, the seven to eight inch bean bag style bears feature embroidered numbers and names of current players.

Included in the 12 piece series is M. McGwire, K. Griffey, Jr., S. Sosa, C. Ripken, Jr., D. Justice, A. Rodriguez, T. Martinez, I. Rodriguez, J. Edmonds, B. Bonds, R. Clemens and C. Jones. Each bear also has a swing tag with information about the player it represents.

The McGwire and Sosa bears are available for $20 each. The complete set of 12, including both power hitters, is priced at $100. Shipping is available.

"Most sport shops are selling the individual McGwire and Sosa bears for $25 to $30 each," said Dixie Burnett, group sponsor. "They also sell the set for up to $140. Since these bears have been donated to us, we decided to pass on the savings to others."

Orders are filled on a first-paid basis. Deliver will be in late October.

"We've even been told that four of the bears will be retired sometime in October," said Burnett. "After that is announce, I'm sure the prices will be higher."

All proceeds will help fund the group's 1999 European tour.
