Voters in the Perryville School District will decide the fate of a tax hike on Nov. 6 while voters in the city of Miner will determine if the position of police chief should be changed from an elected position to an appointed one.
The Perryville issue is the only measure on the ballot in Perry County. The Miner election is the only one in Scott County. Both measures require simple majorities to pass.
There will be no election in Bollinger County next month because no issues were placed on the ballot.
Perry County School District's proposal to hike its operating levy by 50 cents to $3.20 per $100 assessed valuation comes as school officials try to deal with mounting financial woes.
The school board has threatened to eliminate all sports and extra curricular activities and cut staff if voters don't approve the tax hike.
