BackPacks for Friday 5K set for Saturday morning

The Jackson School District's BackPacks for Fridays 5K will take place Saturday morning at the Jackson Junior High School.

The event raises money to help provide weekend meals for more than 70 needy families in the school district.

Registration is from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., and the race starts at 8 a.m. Runners can dress as their favorite superheroes.

If a runner registers in advance, the fee for adults is $30 and $10 for children ages 18 and younger. Registration cost the day of the race is $35 for adults and $15 for children.

Students or parents may pick up a race packet at their school the day before the race. Packets also may be picked up at Cobblestone Corner, 130 S. High St., or the day of the race.

Registration forms may be turned in to the school office or mailed to Joyce McIntosh, Orchard Drive Elementary, 1402 Orchard Drive in Jackson.
