Earline Menz, events coordinator of the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau, has been named president of the Southeast Missouri Restaurant Association.

Other officers include Anna Carmi, Imo's Pizza, Cape Girardeau, vice president; Bob Hoppmann, Pasta House, Cape Girardeau, second vice president; Paula Valle, Family Inn, secretary-treasurer; and Steve Bryant, ServiceMaster, chairman of the board.

Menz, of Benton, has served in several areas of food service. She has worked as a waitress at Nickerson Farms and Holiday Inn; as a sales director for the Ramada Inn at Sikeston, and as catering manager for ServiceMaster Food Management in Cape Girardeau.

She and her husband, Paul, are parents of three children. They have a grandson.

The local chapter is one of 11 that make up the framework of the Missouri Restaurant Association, a 3,600-member organization that serves food service owners and operations in western Illinois, all of Missouri, and parts of eastern Kansas.

Paul Kesterson has been named manager of the year by Subway Development of Eastern Missouri, headquartered in St. Louis.

Kesterson, manager of Subway Sandwiches and Salads, 1315 Broadway, was recognized for best performance by a manager out of 115 stores in the St. Louis region.

Kesterson and his wife, Kay, also an employee at the restaurant, reside in Cape Girardeau.

David Alexander, who owns Subway restaurants in Cape Girardeau and Sikeston, was also honored for a 28 percent increase in sales at restaurants in Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. Alexander is also development representative for the firm in those areas.

Alexander said Subway will open five stores in Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri within the next six months, including one in West Park Mall.

Rita Jaco of Jackson was honored recently by the Visiting Nurses Association of Southeast Missouri as homemaker of the Year for the area served by the Cape Girardeau office of VNA community services.

Jaco received recognition for her dependability and outstanding work record in the VNA's homemaker program.

In addition to recognizing outstanding individuals, VNA was recognized for its accomplishments in the field of health care. In 1991 the VNA professional programs received accreditation with commendations from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

A 9 percent growth was experienced in total services by the VNA, with a 14 percent increase in the number of visits provided by the professional nursing staff.

In all programs, VNA employees provide more than 40,000 hours of service each month to help elderly and handicapped people in Southeast Missouri.

Curtis Myracle has retired from ABF Freight System.

Myracle, of Cape Girardeau, has been with the Fort Smith, Ark.-based firm for 25 years. He was a line driver at the firm's Cape Girardeau terminal.

Myracle was recipient of a safety award every year he worked with ABF.

Prior to going to work for ABF, Myracle worked for other carriers a combined total of nine years.

Six Mary Kay Cosmetics consultants were recently honored for sales activity during a special areawide Star Consultant banquet.

Jana Jateff, senior sales directors with Mary Kay Cosmetics, recognized top Mary Kay performers for the quarter.

Honored were LaDonia Beggs of Jackson; Rita Milam of Benton; Kathy Vandeven of Scott City; Joy Englehardt and Arlysse Popp, both of Pocohontas; Margie Jackson of De Soto; and Sonya Lappe of Bonne Terre.
