Cape Girardeau cardiologist, Dr. James B. Chapman, served on the faculty of the Advanced Cardiovascular Systems Annual Fellows Conference held Wednesday through Saturday at Carlsbad, Calif.
Chapman participated in several sessions of the conference, which was attended by more than 200 cardiology fellows in their final year of angioplasty training.
As part of the conference faculty, Chapman joined a number of cardiologists from throughout the nation, including Dr. Cass Pinkerton of Indianapolis, Ind., Dr. William O'Neill of Detroit, Mich., and Dr. Donald Baim of Harvard University.
Chapman is associated with Cardiovascular Consultants of Cape Girardeau Inc. He is a member of the medical staffs of Southeast Missouri Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center.
He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Medical Association, Missouri State Medical Association, Cape Girardeau County Area Medical Society and the American Heart Association.

Susan Wilson Pisani, ITT Commercial Finance vice president, recently received the IDA Award for Excellence.
The award was established by ITT in 1982 to recognize employees who produce exceptional corporate relations and advertising and sales promotion programs to assist the corporation.
Pisani is responsible for the company's advertising, public relations activities, employee communications, sales promotions, and production of the company's strategic and operating plans.
Prior to joining ITT, Pisani ran her own public relations and advertising company, Wilson and Associates.

Four representatives of Southeast Missouri Hospital were among more than 200 nursing professionals who attended the first Missouri Nursing Summit. It was held at Jefferson City and was sponsored by the Missouri Nursing Coalition.
Attending were Karen Hendrickson, assistant administrator for patient care; Sandy Buchheit, director of the hospital's school of nursing; Jeri Palmer, nurse manager of the surgical progressive-care unit; and Maggie Schuch, nurse manager of the cardiothoracic intensive-care unit.
"Nursing's Agenda for Health Care Reform" was the primary topic of a presentation by keynote speaker, Lucille Joel, past president of the American Nurses Association. Other topics included health care reform in Missouri and "Missouri Nursing 2000."

Dr. Robert C. Kessinger, a Cape Girardeau chiropractor, has been designated a Distinguished Fellow of Specific Chiropractors.
The designation honors Kessinger for his leadership and contribution to the profession.
Less than 10 chiropractors are inducted into the Fellows each year.
Also, Kessinger was guest lecturer at John A. Logan Community College near Carterville, ill., recently.
Kessinger, of Kessinger Chiropractic Clinic in Cape Girardeau, spoke on heat differential analysis instrumentation used to determine presence or absence of interference to the nervous system.
The lecture was sponsored by the Kale Upper Cervical Specific Club.

JACKSON Jerry Strack, Ron Bollinger and Wayne Thiele of Strack Equipment Inc. of Jackson recently attended a product introduction and training meeting on the New John Deere 6000 and 7000 Series tractors in Waterloo, Iowa.
The two-day session included classes on the new 66- to 145-horsepower tractors and field demonstrations allowing participants to operate the new units. Also included were new seeding and tillage equipment.
More than 4,500 John Deere dealers and sales personnel participated in the training season.

Jewell Ellis has been named Special Employee of the Year at Cape LaCroix Nursing Care Center, 2525 Boutin Road.
Ellis was honored during the annual meeting of Americare Systems Inc. at the Holiday Inn Resource and Conference Center in Lake of the Ozarks.
Ellis has been employed at Cape La Croix for eight years. She is in medical records and in charge of purchasing for the nursing department.
Jewell received an all-expenses-paid trip to the resort and a special commemorative T-shirt.
