Members of several law enforcement agencies have been searching for a man reportedly missing since the early morning hours of Aug. 30.
Robert A. Roberson, 48, of Newbern, Tennessee, was last seen off Holly Springs Cemetery Road in Dyer County, Tennessee, where his 1995 Red Dodge Dakota truck was stuck in a field.
The day after his disappearance, a search began, with local law enforcement officials in vehicles as well as a helicopter provided by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The search continued last week as deputies from the Dyer County Sheriff's Department and the Dyer County Rescue Squad combed the area looking for the missing man.
On Wednesday, cadaver dogs were called in to help. The dogs searched a 3- to 4-mile radius around Roberson's truck. The search continued Thursday with no results, prompting Sheriff Jeff Box to appeal to the public for information about the missing man.
"There's no sign of [Roberson] in the area right now, and though there is nothing that would indicate foul play at this time, we have thoroughly searched and combed the area for days," Box said. "We're looking for any information from anyone that has heard from him or seen him, and we're asking anyone that knows anything to contact us."
A female passenger reportedly with Roberson at the time his truck became stuck in the field was able to walk to a nearby home, where a resident contacted the sheriff's office. After arriving at the scene, the responding deputy found the truck and, according to the report, it was obvious someone had been working to free the vehicle from the ditch.
Roberson was last seen wearing bluejeans and was not wearing a shirt. He is listed as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds, with tattoos on both arms as well as a tattoo of a heart on his chest with the name "Regina." Though it's believed Roberson left on foot, the direction he traveled is unknown.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dyer County Sheriff's Department at 731-285-2802.
