GIBSON, Mo. -- Authorities are investigating the death of a 20-year-old Kennett, Mo., woman found lying in the roadway Friday.

According to the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department's, authorities received a 911 call requesting medical assistance on County Road 322 near Gibson. Authorities discovered a woman, later identified as Autumn Rain Medley, lying in the roadway.

Medical assistance arrived at the scene and determined that Medley was dead.

The Dunklin County Major Case Squad was activated to investigate the case. Investigating agencies include the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, Kennett Police Department, Maiden Police Department, Holcomb Police Department and the Dunklin County prosecutor's office.

Dunklin County Coroner James Powell was contacted to perform an autopsy and determine the cause of death.
