LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. (AP) -- The body of a drowning victim was recovered early Wednesday in about 8 feet of water, authorities said.

Nathan Scheib, 23, of Lee's Summit, began struggling late Tuesday as he waded in Blue Springs Lake, the Missouri State Water Patrol said.

Someone swam out to help, but both went under water. The rescuer resurfaced, but was unable to grab Scheib. He disappeared in the water around 11:30 p.m., and divers found his body about 21/2 hours later, the patrol said.

The patrol said Scheib was a weak swimmer.
