Austin receives Senior Service Award

Doug Austin of Cape Girardeau was awarded the Senior Service Award by Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder. Austin was honored for his volunteer work in the community at a luncheon Wednesday in Jefferson City, Mo. He was nominated by Jackson police chief James Humphreys and Julia Thompson of the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department. Austin is active in nearly 20 organizations such as Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary, Southeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging, Bethany Baptist Church and the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.
