Semo Alliance for Disability Independence Inc (SADI) will hold its second annual auction Thursday at 7 p.m. at Rainbow Auction, Interstate 55 and Highway 61 in Jackson.
Donations of items to be auctioned will be accepted through Thursday.
SADI is a non-residential independent living center that provides information and referral, advocacy, peer counseling and independent-living-skills training for people with disabilities. The organization serves people in Perry, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Wayne, Madison, Scott and New Madrid counties.
The center operates through a grant from the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Other donations and fund-raisers are needed to provide programs.
Proceeds from the annual auction are used for the community service project. Ramps and minor home modifications are made to homes of persons with disabilities who otherwise couldn't afford to make the accessible improvements. The project also provides assistance like reachers or shower chairs.
In addition to the auction, SADI is looking for help from carpenters, electricians and other laborers who could help make home modifications.
