A suspect accused of robbing the Amerimart convenience store Jan. 8 remains in custody at the Cape Girardeau County jail after his attorney, Jennifer Booth, asked for additional time for evidence discovery Monday before Circuit Court Judge Benjamin F. Lewis.
Travis S. Scales, 28, allegedly entered the store at 1320 W. Cape Rock Drive armed.
Cape Girardeau County deputies arrested Scales a short time after the robbery after they spotted a vehicle, matching a witness description of a getaway car, at a residence on Hidden Valley Drive.
Scales has numerous prior convictions, including possession of a controlled substance in 1998, 1999 and 2002. He was also convicted of third-degree domestic assault in 2006.
Scales is facing trial in Cape Girardeau County on charges of first-degree burglary, robbery and armed criminal action.
Scales will appear on the current criminal charges again on Feb. 22.
