ST. LOUIS (AP) -- One person is dead and several others are hurt after a multi-vehicle accident west of St. Louis.
The wreck happened about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on westbound Interstate 70 near Warrenton in Warren County, about 50 miles west of St. Louis.
Roads in the region were slick from sleet and freezing rain, but Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Al Nothum says it isn't immediately clear if the weather caused the wreck.
Nothum says more than 12 vehicles were involved, but didn't know the exact number. Two of the vehicles were tractor-trailers.
Westbound I-70 was completely shut down after the wreck.
Nothum says the weather caused numerous other accidents around parts of Missouri.
