The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought about the election defeat of the merger of the Jackson City Library and the Riverside Regional Library.

Joy Holshouser: "I like it the way it is. It depends on where I am in town when I want to go to the library. If something isn't at one library, I'll go to the other one."

Vern Watkins: "I'm happy with the city library. I haven't needed to go to the Riverside Library. It would have been nice to have a larger library, but I'm not unhappy that it didn't pass."

Elizabeth Ayers: "It would have been good to be able to find all the information at one library. Both are good libraries, and I'll just go to both of them depending on what I'm looking for."

Tammy Ludwig: "It would have been great for the kids to have everything in one spot. However, if I had to pay more taxes, I would rather it go to get another school built."

Steve Duniphan: "I think it was a step backward. A larger library with more depth would be good for people of all ages. I use Riverside mainly. A library is a staple of a community.
