The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought of a bill in the Missouri Legislature which would remove the $500 loss limit on riverboat casinos.
Clint Atchison: "I think if people want to lose it, and they have it, they ought to be able to lose it. To lose $500 won't deter them; they'll go back again. It would be better for the state not to have the limit."
Kim Stearns: "I think it would be better not to have the limit, if that would increase the revenue which goes to education in Missouri. The schools need as much help as they can get."
Lynn Ehlers: "It's their money if that's how they want to spend it. If Missouri is losing gamblers going over to Illinois where there isn't a loss limit, then it would be better not to have it so the money could stay here."
Leo Steinbrenner: "If somebody can lose $500 in two hours, they shouldn't even be on the boat. If they took away the loss limit, it would not make a difference."
Jeff Roth: "I don't think people choose a casino boat by how much money they are able to lose. Therefore, I don't think repealing the rule would do any good if they're concerned with creating more state revenue."
