The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought about the city of Jackson having a second mural painted uptown.
Laura Blankenship: "I think it's a wonderful idea. The mural shows the history of our town. I've lived here all my life, and when I drive by, it makes you feel good. We need more of that to let people know what we are about."
Johnny Gast: "The one they have is really nice. It helps the uptown area. I think it does something for the community. It is something to be proud of and to show friends and relatives who come into town. I would like to see something from the '20s and '30s."
Cara Dockins: "They add scenery to the town. I like them. I think it's a good sight for tourists. Jackson is a small town with a lot of history, and it's unique to show it with pictures on murals. I would like to see a main history event on a mural."
Ronnie Stewart: "I like murals. I think they dress up the town, as long as the mural shows something about the history of Jackson. We could use another one."
Shirlene James: "Murals tell what the town is about. I think we need another one in town. It helps people to remember what the town is and where it came from. It needs to be in a different location uptown."
