The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought about the possible elimination of annual state vehicle inspections, if a bill that passed through the Missouri Senate and on to the House becomes law.
Mark Hornback: "I don't think it's a good idea. People with unsafe vehicles out there are a hazard to people with safe vehicles, or anyone for that matter."
Ken Phelps: "It would not be that bad to do away with it. I take care of my car, but not everyone would, so that would be the downfall of it."
John Westbrook: "I don't think it would hurt to do away with it. Some surrounding states don't have inspections required now. Most cars today are safer, and only a few would put people at risk."
Julie Thurman: "I don't think it's a good idea. People could be driving cars that are dangerous and not know it. Some people might keep their cars running, but not keep them up to par."
Susan Rafferty: "I don't think it is that necessary in the long run, at least having it done every year. We have six vehicles in our business, and I have to remind myself every month of when something is due."
