The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought about the possibility of building a multipurpose community center for the city of Jackson.
Chris Hampton: "As fast as Jackson is growing, I think this would be good for the city. Public events could be held on a scale smaller than the Show Me Center, and it would bring more tourism and revenue into the city."
Laverne Schwab: "It's worth looking into, because it's something we could use. I don't know how we're going to pay for it. Tournaments, conventions and meetings could use it. It would be a plus."
Julie Walker: "I think it's a great idea. It would give us some options of things to do in the community, especially for the youth. It would be a good opportunity for Jackson."
Diana Beattie: "I think the idea of having a facility to draw people to Jackson is good. We will also have to think about feeding them and housing them while they are here. So there would be extra opportunities for people.
Kevin Schabbing: "I think it would be a good idea, especially if it allows younger people to have more opportunities to do things, such as a having a place to work out, or for pick-up basketball games. Meetings, banquets, dances or whatever could bring in revenue."
