The Southeast Missourian asked children at West Lane Elementary School about their experiences aboard the St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railway.

Norman Popp: "I have been on the train about 30 or 40 times. They have had the Jesse James gang ride up on horseback and rob the train crew. Bonnie and Clyde were at Gordonville once, and they held up the train too."

Lacey Hayes: "I have been on the train about 10 times. I like going over the part where there is a bridge and you look down at the water. About three times when I rode it, robbers came on the train. We can look at plants and identify them along the way."

Mattie Graham: "I have been on the train a few times with the Girl Scouts. I've also been on the train for a birthday party. One time a cowboy came onto the train. He gave me a fake dollar bill and a kiss on the cheek."

Danielle Schuette: "I rode the train with my family once when I was six years old. It was lots of fun. It was the first train I have ever been on. I thinks it is cool that Jackson has one. I would like to ride it again."

Blake Littlepage: "I went on the Christmas ride a couple of years ago. It was fun. They had a Santa Claus on board. There were a lot of people on the train. My grandpa used to be an engineer with the train. I would like to go on it again."
