The Southeast Missourian asked people for their thoughts about the Jackson High School football team's current 0-3 record and its traditional winning ways.
Larry Cunningham: "It feels that they are in a rebuilding mode. They had several good players graduate last year. Every so often a school has to go through that. We're still going to have a winning season."
John M. Thompson: "I think the key is for them to execute perfectly and to overcome their mistakes. They are such a young team right now that if they have a mistake, they don't have the horsepower to overcome it. It takes playing perfect football, and they are capable of that."
Brent Wills: "I think it's a timing issue. They will get together and get more focused. We've had four or five great years, and it's hard to stay on top of the peak all the time. They are a well-composed team and have a lot of drive and ambition. I think it will come together."
Bob Cranmer: "They just have to keep playing hard and not give up. They are living off of a big past record of 10-0, so that is something to overcome. They are young, but they are making improvement every week and will turn the corner pretty soon."
Judy Enders: "I think they are a young team and they play hard. They just need to work together better. There is definitely a lot of pressure on the team to win, and I think they will."
