The Southeast Missourian asked people about their camping experience.
Brad Davis: "The only time I camp is when I go trout fishing on opening day at Montauk when it's pretty cold. The heater in my friend's pop-up camper wasn't working last time, so I had the sleeping bag zipped up to my nose."
Terry Shirley: "I do mostly tent camping at places like Johnson's Shut-ins State Park, Sam A. Baker State Park and Castor River Park. I like to go in the spring and fall. I like to just sit around, eat, hike, swim and play with the kids."
Amy Snell: "I have been camping at Castor River. It's really pretty out there. You can go swimming, look under rocks, build sand castles and play. We always went with my grandma and grandpa."
Blake Seabaugh: "I go camping about once a year. I use a trailer at Wappapello Lake. We ski and go out on boats and have fun on the weekend. If it's hot, it doesn't matter. It a good way to get away."
Nicky Holshouser: "I like going to Meramec Springs State Park near St. James. We have a pop-up camper and go trout fishing. Camping and fishing go hand in hand."
