The Southeast Missourian asked people about a book that they read recently.
Mark Seabaugh: "I liked `Without Remorse' by Tom Clancy. It was about international conspiracy dealing with today's problems in government and the Middle East. I like Clancy's books because of the technical language he uses. You learn as you are being entertained."
Loyd Birk: "I enjoyed reading `Extraordinary Black Americans' by Susan Altman. It told about the many achievements and inventions which were done by black people, and I was very impressed. I enjoy reading non-fiction books and historical novels."
John Free: "I read `The Magician's Nephew,' written by C.S. Lewis. It's about a little boy who meets a little girl. She has an attic and a rocking chair up there, and she makes a book. I have other books in the series."
Emily Thompson: "I liked reading `The Snow Baby' (by Margaret Hillert). It's about two kids who play in the snow. They see tracks in the snow, and then they go and find a little kitten. They take the kitten home."
Martha Hughes: "I read `The Holy Man' by Susan Trott. It's about a holy man who lives on a hill in India and the people who go up to see him. The book tells about the changes in their lives as they go up the mountain and after they meet him."
