Arts programs for children and their parents will be held during March at local schools.

The programs will focus on celebrating festivals of several countries.

The Saturday afternoon programs, for children 5-13, should provide an art and education experience.

The programs are open to the public with an admission fee of $1 per person. All supplies and materials will be provided. Pre-registration is required.

Washington School will be the site of the March 12 Festivals, Families and Arts program.

Festivals Families and The Arts will celebrate "Jenskidein" the Russian holiday honoring women.

Southeast Missouri State University's Elena Mocikova will describe the holiday that takes place in her native country in which women receive gifts, a day off from work, special recognition and a festive meal.

Large floral collage postcards, like those used for the holiday, will be made by participating parents and children at the program.

Music, artifacts, library books and activities make this program funfor all ages.

On March 26 a program will be held at St. Mary's School.

Festivals, Families and the Arts programs are sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts as an arts education service to families.
