The winners of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri's annual Regional Juried Exhibition were awarded more than $1,000 in cash prizes during a reception Friday at the Arts Council.

According to a news release from the Arts Council, Robert Ressel was awarded this year's Best of Show and a $500 prize for his piece, "Oran Mill," his first award at an Arts Council juried exhibit.

Second place went to Holly Dirnberger, a graphic designer and photographer, for her piece "Downtown Cape." Three juror's selections also were made and went to Juliana Comer for her piece "Floods Fields Farms Faith," Katherine Miller for "Run of the Mill" and Vicki Outman for "Hubble Creek Formations."

The release said the Regional Juried Exhibit was developed to provide a forum to demonstrate the diversity of this region and the artists who live here. Artists were encouraged to submit works that interpreted any aspect of the Southeast Missouri region and its bordering states. The exhibit will be on display until Jan. 25 and features pieces by 23 local and regional artists.
