Baroque Ensemble starts season Thursday

The Southeast Missouri State University Baroque Ensemble will kick off its season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a concert at Old St. Vincent's Church in Cape Girardeau. The program is open to the public and will include music by composers such as Bach and Telemann, and lesser-known Baroque composers. Ensemble members include Paul Thompson on Baroque flute, Brandon Christensen on Baroque violin, Sara Edgerton on Baroque cello and Gary Miller on harpsichord. Call 651-2265 for tickets.

Lecturer to discuss railroad photography

Thomas H. Garver will present a lecture on railroad photography at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Southeast Missouri Regional Museum on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Garver is the curator of the O. Winston Link Museum and provided the photos for the Southeast Missouri Regional Museum's current exhibition on Link's photography, "The Last Steam Railroad in America." Golconda holds shrimp festival this month

GOLCONDA, Ill. -- The sixth annual Golconda Shrimp Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 16 in downtown Golconda.
