Southern Illinois orchestra presents Mozart concert

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra will celebrate Mozart's 250th birthday at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with a concert titled "Mozart and the Stars of Altgeld" at the Shryock Auditorium in Carbondale. The concert features homages to Mozart by Schubert and Tchaikovsky and other compositions performed by the Stars of Altgeld, winners of the SIU Music School's annual competition. Theater holds auditions for 'Annie Get Your Gun'

PADUCAH, Ky. -- The Market House Theatre will hold open auditions for the Peter Stone adaptation of "Annie Get Your Gun" at 7 p.m. April 17 and 18 at the Main Stage Theatre in Paducah. Principal roles are available for five men and three women. Featured roles call for one man, two women, two girls, one boy and a large chorus with speaking roles. KRCU program explores globalism

On Sundays at 9 a.m. for the next five weeks, KRCU will follow the NPR program "Weekend Edition" with a new series call "Worlds of Difference." Extreme Tour comes to Cape Girardeau

The Extreme Tour concert tour will have three show dates remaining in Cape Girardeau today, Saturday and Sunday at Capaha Park. The tour started Thursday. The Extreme Tour is a Christian outreach event, with Christian bands targeting young audiences. Shows start around 5 p.m.

Southeast to present 'Romeo and Juliet'

The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance will finish its 2005-2006 season this month with "Romeo and Juliet," April 21, 22 and 25 to 30 at the Rose Theatre. The production features large sword-fighting scenes, elaborate period costumes and a large, diverse cast. For more information, call 651-2265.

Counseling center wine festival set for April 21

The Community Counseling Center Foundation will hold its fifth annual Community Benefit Wine Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. April 21 at Deerfield Lodge in Cape Girardeau. Eleven Missouri wineries will be in attendance, along with hor d'oeuvres, live music by Saxy Jazz, valet parking and hourly prize drawings.
