Local woman releases Christian CD 'Believe'

Robyn Hosp of Jackson has a new contemporary Christian CD called "Believe" in local stores. The inspirational album was recorded in Nashville, Tenn., with a song written by Hosp inspired by her relationship with a girl who was severely injured in an ATV accident. Annual Christmas Hoot returns Dec. 17 and 18

The annual Christmas Hoot, an event organized by musicians and local venue owners to benefit Cottonwood Treatment Center, will be held Dec. 17 and 18 in downtown Cape Girardeau. Featured Dec. 17 shows for the Hoot include The JJMC Folkgrass Project at Sidewalk Sandwich Co., Wooden Ships at The Turnpike (formerly Players), Tevik at the former Our House, Prom Night Heroes at The Camp, 13th Floor at Broussard's and Mike Renick at Rude Dog Pub. On Sunday Bruce Zimmerman and the Water Street Band will be at Port Cape Girardeau with many special guests singing Christmas songs, and an all-ages show featuring Catatonic and Last Day Fighting will take place at The Camp.

Great Books discussion to take place Wednesday

Market House presents 'A Christmas Carol'

PADUCAH, Ky. -- The Market House Theatre in Paducah will perform the classic Charles Dickens tale "A Christmas Carol" today through Sunday and Dec. 15 through 18. Treasures of Napoleon on display at Sikeston Depot

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Depot Museum, 116 W. Malone Ave., will display a collection from Napoleon's First Empire owned by Dr. James Cooper through Dec. 30. The exhibit coincides with the National Geographic Museum's showing of Napoleonic artifacts in Washington, D.C., through Jan. 2. The local collection contains 235 artifacts from Napoleon's time. University ensembles to perform in Kennett

KENNETT, Mo. -- The Kennett Schola Cantorum and the student faculty and brass quintets from Southeast Missouri State University will perform at the First United Methodist Church in Kennett on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The featured piece will be Daniel Pinkham's "Christmas Cantata" for choir and brass.
