Artwork by Central High School students will be displayed at Gallery 100 during January.
The work has been produced by 65 students of Judy Barks-Westrich. Sophomores, juniors and seniors enrolled in Art I, II and III courses are taking part. Most will have two or three works exhibited.
This is Barks-Westrich's first year of teaching at Central High School after a number of years in the Sikeston schools. She thinks it's important for high school students not only to create art but to see it displayed before th public.
"This is the first major exhibit for Central's art students," Barks-Westrich has said. "...They seem to be excited about having their artwork viewed by the public."
A reception will be held for the student artists from 2 to 4 p.m. sunday, Jan. 7. The gallery is located at 1707 Mt. Auburn Road.
The exhibition will remain on display through Jan. 26. Gallery hours are 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays.
