Arrest made in Fruitland armed robberies investigation

A Cape Girardeau man was arrested Tuesday in connection with armed robberies the past two Sunday mornings of two Fruitland convenience stores. Alex Shane Curry, 31, was charged Wednesday with two counts of armed robbery and one count of armed criminal action. The robberies occurred at Rhodes 101 on May 15 and at the Little Country Store on Sunday. Curry is in custody at the Cape Girardeau County Jail in Jackson and is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond. According to a news release from the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, authorities received a call from someone who spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle, which led them to Curry.
