Sikeston man faces drug, fleeing charges
A 20-year-old Sikeston, Mo., man is in custody on drug charges as well as charges for fleeing twice from officers. Olajuwon Lane is being held in the Scott County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash or surety bond on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, possession of narcotics, felony escape and resisting arrest. No court date has been set. The driver of a car Lane was a passenger in allegedly led Sikeston officers on a short car chase at about 1:30 p.m. Feb. 8. The car crashed into a fence and Lane and the driver reportedly fled on foot in different directions. Lane was subsequently arrested. The driver, whose name is being withheld, is still being sought. Sikeston investigating Feb. 9 shootings
SIKESTON, Mo. -- Two shootings at occupied residences are under investigation by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety. Officers were called to 229 Welter St. at about 9 p.m. Feb. 9. The victim, Doreen Calvin, and her three children were in the residence at the time the shots were fired through the living room window. "No one received injuries, but several shots were fired from just outside the living room window," director of Public Safety Drew Juden said in a news release. Also, officers at the scene were told by neighbors that they had heard shots in the area around 9:15 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 9. A vehicle at the residence as well as the house were damaged by several shots fired from the street directly in front of the residence. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call DPS at (573) 471-4711 or Crime Stoppers at (573) 471-1500. All information can be kept confidential and rewards are offered for information leading to the arrest of those involved.
