DE SOTO, Mo. (AP) — An Army veteran from De Soto and his wife are in the money.
The couple won half of the $4.9 million Lotto jackpot for the Aug. 2nd drawing. The other winning ticket was sold at Apple Market in Kansas City, but that ticket has not yet been claimed.
Philip and Lisa Bequette were identified Friday as the winners.
Philip Bequette, who turned 61 on Friday, said he asked for a $5 Lotto ticket but the clerk at the AMVETS Post where he bought the winning ticket gave him a $5 Powerball ticket by accident. He kept that but asked for a $3 Lotto ticket as well, and that proved to be the winner.
The couple said they plan to pay off some debts, make some investments and buy a new truck with their prize.
