The application process for funding from the upcoming 2006 United Way campaign will soon open for agencies in the Cape Girardeau, Jackson and Scott City areas.
Applications will be available Friday and can be accessed at www.unitedwayofsemo.org or by calling 334-9634.
Funding is focused on programs, initiatives and collaborations that will help the United Way strengthen families in our area. Specific focus areas and targeted approaches for each focus area have been developed and should be considered by agencies prior to making application. These are identified in the application.
Mandatory training meeting dates for agencies that have not received United Way funding in the past are 9:30 a.m. Sept. 20 or 2:30 p.m. Oct. 3. Training will last about two hours. Contact the United Way of Southeast Missouri to register for one of the trainings if interested in submitting an application.

Agencies must be a 501(c)3 organization with an active board and provide a health and human service in the Cape Girardeau, Jackson and Scott City areas. They must also be willing to submit financial information about their organization and utilize outcomes measurement as an evaluation tool for their program(s).
The United Way of Southeast Missouri is working with organizations and community leaders in Bollinger County and Perryville to initiate fund-raising campaigns in those areas. Programs specific to these communities will be identified only by local committees and need not apply at this time. They will be contacted individually and provided an application.
The United Way of Southeast Missouri's 2005 campaign raised a total of $1,145,081. The 2006 campaign kicks off today.
