Four area high school students were recently named as winners of the United States National achievement awards.
The students will appear in a yearbook of the United States Achievement Academy. Less than 10 percent of American high school students receive the award.
The are students include Kevin Baugher of McClure, Ill.; Ryan Livingston of Delta; Bethanie Gosche of Notre Dame High School; and Kelli Puchbauer of Jackson.
Baugher, a student at Shawnee High School, received the award for honor roll achievements. He was nominated by counselor Gene Pulley. Baugher is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Baugher of McClure.
Livingston, a student at Delta High School, received a similar honor for achievements in history and government. He was nominated by teacher John Weber. Livingston is the son of John and Mary Livingston.
Bethanie Gosche of Notre Dame High School received the award for achievements in student council activities. She was nominated by teacher Donna Zahner. She is the daughter of Larry and Bonnie Gosche.
Puchbauer is a student at R.O. Hawkins Junior High School in Jackson. She received the award for history and government achievements. She is the daughter of Linda and Rob Puchbauer of Jackson.
