Several area schools have called off Thursday classes as snow continues to cover many roads.

Cape Girardeau schools, Cape Christian School, Trinity Lutheran in Cape Girardeau, Scott City schools, Oran public schools and Guardian Angel school in Oran, Nell Holcomb, Eagle Ridge Christian School and Little Eagles Learning Center, Saxony Lutheran High School, the Southeast Missouri State University Center for Childhood Studies and St. Vincent in Perryville notified parents and students of Thursday closings via text alerts. Cape Girardeau schools also notified parents that all school activities were canceled.

St. Paul Lutheran in Jackson notified the Southeast Missourian of a closing via email.

Other area schools reporting Thursday closings to the KZIM-KSIM radio station website included: Advance, Cairo, Immanuel Lutheran in Perryville, Kelly, Kelso C-7, Jackson, Leopold, Meadow Heights, Metro Business College, Notre Dame Regional High School, St. Mary in Cape Girardeau, St. Vincent de Paul in Cape Girardeau, Perry County public schools, Oak Ridge and its early childhood center and Zalma.

Southeast Missouri State University announced its regional campuses in Malden, Kennett and Sikeston will open at 11 a.m., while its Poplar Bluff campus will remain closed all day.
