Eleven area high school seniors have received President's Scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University.
They are Matthew Abernathy of Chaffee, C.B. Forck of Benton, Cynthia Grooms of Morley, Joshua Hager of Frohna, Bridget Hamm and Matthew Ostendorf, both of Scott City; Gennifer Campbell, Heather Collier and Jessica Littrell, all of Jackson; and Tyler Eggimann and Nick Essner, both of Cape Girardeau.
Ostendorf also received a Missouri Leadership Award, a one-year award designed for Missouri students who have achieved an ACT score of 24 or SAT score of 990, and a 3 grade-point average. Littrell also was awarded a music scholarship.
The President's Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who rank at least in the upper 20 percent of their high school class and score 25 on the ACT or 1030 on the SAT. The scholarships also are awarded to students who are their class valedictorian or salutatorian and complete the core curriculum.
Abernathy, the son of Elvis and Judy Abernathy, is a senior at Chaffee High School; Forck, the son of Bill and Shirley Forck, is a senior at Thomas W. Kelly High School and plans to major in business; Grooms, the daughter of Janet Grooms, is a senior at Notre Dame High School and plans to major in business; and Hager, the son of Bruce Hager of Marble Hill and Rebecca Hager of Frohna, is a senior at Perryville High School; Hamm, the daughter of Glen and Nancy Hamm, is a senior at Kelly High School and plans to major in nursing; Ostendorf, the son of Donald and Rita Ostendorf, is a senior at Scott City High School and plans to major in civil engineering; Campbell, the daughter of Mark and Becky Campbell, plans to major in accounting; Collier, the daughter of Eldan and Alice Collier, plans to major in banking and finance; Littrell, the daughter of Larry Littrell and Linda Floyd, plans to major in music education; Eggimann, the son of Brad and Shari Eggimann, a senior at Cape Girardeau Central High School. plans to major in pre-engineering; and Essner, the son of Steve and Kim Essner, is a senior at Notre Dame High School.
