The countdown is on. Weeks or just days remain until high school graduations, the last day of school and the beginning of summer vacation for students.

Some 266 seniors at Cape Girardeau Central High School will be among the last in the area to graduate from high school. Commencement is set June 10 at 8 p.m. at the Show Me Center.

Cape Girardeau native Patricia Washington, who serves as press secretary to St. Louis Mayor Freeman R. Bosley Jr., will present the commencement speech for the Class of 1994.

A baccalaureate ceremony, sponsored by a parent group and the Cape Girardeau Ministerial Alliance, is planned June 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.

The last day of school for students in the district is June 10.

Graduation at Meadow Heights school in Patton is set for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gym. The last day of school is May 27.

Oak Ridge schools plan graduation Friday at 8 p.m. in the school gym. The speaker is John Lichtenegger, a Jackson attorney and University of Missouri curator. The last day of school is May 27.

For Woodland seniors, graduation is planned Friday in the high school gym, beginning at 8 p.m. The last day of school is May 25.

At Chaffee, baccalaureate and commencement have been combined and will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. on the football field, weather permitting. The last day of school is May 27.

Seniors at Notre Dame Catholic High School will graduate May 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the school gym. The Rev. Ron Hoye, associate pastor at St. Vincent's Church, is the speaker. A baccalaureate mass is scheduled May 26 at 11 a.m. and the last day of school is May 27.

At Jackson, a baccalaureate ceremony is planned Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Graduation will be held June 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school football stadium, weather permitting. The last day of school is also June 1.

Graduation is planned June 3 at 7:30 p.m. for Scott City seniors. The ceremony will take place on the football field, weather permitting. The last day of school is June 2.

Delta High School's graduation is planned June 5 at 2 p.m. in the high school gym. The last day of school is May 27.

Perryville High School's graduation is May 27 at 7 p.m. on the football field. Baccalaureate ceremony is planned Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Perryville. The last day of school is May 27.

Thomas Kelly High School's graduation is May 27 at 8 p.m. at the high school gym. The last day for seniors at the Benton school is May 24. Other students will attend classes until June 1.

The last day of classes at Nell Holcomb will be May 27. An eighth-grade graduation is planned May 24 at 8 p.m. in the school gym.

The last day of classes at St. Vincent de Paul School in Cape Girardeau will be May 27. An eighth-grade graduation mass is planned May 26 at 7 p.m. at St. Vincent's Church, followed by a reception.

At St. Mary Cathedral School, the last day of classes will be May 27. An eighth-grade graduation mass is planned May 24 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, followed by a reception.

The last day of classes at Trinity Lutheran School is May 26. An eighth-grade graduation is planned May 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the school gym.

At St. Paul Lutheran School, the last day of classes is May 27. An eighth-grade banquet and graduation is planned May 25 at 6:30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The last day of school at Immaculate Conception is May 27. An eighth-grade graduation is planned May 25 at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church.
